Information regarding human rights

If you wish to receive advice from the Ombudsman's office regarding human rights, you should submit your question priemna@ombudsman.bg or call (+3592/8106 955 or +3592/9809 510) the Ombudsman’s office before you make an application or visit the office personally. 

Complaints about violations of human rights

The Ombudsman can investigate complaints about potential human rights violations and determine whether your human rights have been violated. Read more about the complaint procedure.

Activities

  • Investigating complaints related to potential human rights violations and determining whether your human rights have been violated
  • Recommending that legislative and administrative authorities undertake actions to ensure the respect for human rights and to combat the root causes of the human rights violations
  • Making recommendations to private entities if the latter act to the detriment of the consumer rights
  • Helping people understand their human rights and explain how better to defend them
  • Awareness rising in society regarding human rights standards and protection mechanisms
