The Inspectorate to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) is a state body that carries out ongoing monitoring of the judiciary. Among its functions is the handling of complaints by natural and legal persons against violation of the right to a fair hearing and resolution of the case within reasonable time.
How can it help you
If you believe that your right to a fair hearing and resolution of the case within reasonable time has been violated by acts, actions or omissions of a judicial body, you may file a complaint with the Inspectorate of the Supreme Judicial Council. Such a complaint may be brought by parties to completed civil, administrative and criminal proceedings, or accused, injured or injured legal persons in terminated pre-trial proceedings. Pay attention - you can not file a complaint with the Inspectorate while your case is pending. In this case there are other means of accelerating the proceedings that you should use. The Inspectorate will examine your complaint/application and if it finds that your case has not been dealt with and decided within a reasonable time, it may award a compensation, which cannot be higher than BGN 10,000. The Inspectorate is required to examine your complaint in accordance with the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
