Maria’s World Foundation aims to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. The organisation was established in February 2012 in Sofia and its mission is to protect the human rights and provide support to people with intellectual disabilities and their families, help them overcome discrimination and social isolation and facilitate their social inclusion through high-quality services, training and employment programmes.

How can it help you

Maria’s World Foundation welcomes applications from people with intellectual difficulties and their families for their inclusion in the work skills programmes available at the Day Care Center. If you have—or know someone who has—intellectual difficulties, you can get in touch with the organisation at +359 2 423 9740 or by sending an e-mail to office@mariasworld.org.

Activities

  • The Worlds Day Care Centre is a project of Maria’s World Foundation. Since July 2013 it has enabled young people with intellectual difficulties to acquire work and life skills in order to improve their personal independence and quality of life. Assisted by a psychologist, a social worker and a family therapist along with group supervisors, the centre’s clients learn how to manage their personal finances, and acquire orientation, communication and work skills
  • The Sheltered Café is a place for work rehabilitation and acquisition of skills that take into account the individual needs of clients with intellectual difficulties. The café expands the opportunities to find employment in the future and integrate into the mainstream labour market
  • Bon Appétit Catering is the foundation’s social enterprise that provides training for young people with intellectual disabilities in the acquisition of basic work skills and performance of complex tasks
