The Cedar Foundation is an active participant in formulating, implementing and evaluating policies in the field of deinstitutionalization. It provides 24-hour individual care and specialized support for disadvantaged children and young people. The Cedar Foundation is working to change state policies and public attitudes towards children and disadvantaged people. The Foundation applies high standards of care through advocacy, development of social services and stimulation of personal abilities.

The foundation’s Social Rehabilitation and Integration Centre in Kyustendil offers social and family consultations and psychological support, social rehabilitation, cognitive, psychological and medical physiotherapy, speech therapy, art therapy, work therapy and sensor therapy.

Activities

  • The Social Rehabilitation and Integration Centre in Kyustendil is a place where young people with intellectual difficulties from different institutions, safe homes, or family environment receive quality support for their individual development. The goal is for them to develop their skills and acquire new ones, to increase their independence and to be given the opportunity for real social integration. The centre is working with a team of high-qualified specialist, including social workers, speech therapist, psychologist, physiotherapist, work therapist, art therapist and others
  • The foundation manages 9 family-type centres and a protected home in Kyustendil and Kazanlak, where it provides 24-hour individual care for children and young people deprived of parental care. Most of them have disabilities and have been transferred from institutional homes in different parts of the country or accommodated in case of emergency situations
