Treatment & Conditions

How should you be treated during the arrest and detention?

When arrested or detained, the police must not treat you in an inhumane or degrading way. They must not use unnecessary or excessive physical force when arresting you. They should not use forceful methods when they question you or carry out other procedural activities upon your arrest. Moreover, you have the right to be held in humane conditions of detention and, if necessary, receive medical care.
